Rainy day...
She found a good flight from Texas to stay with Brit in Omaha and so last minute I decided to travel to see her and Brit. I somehow even convinced Steph to drive down from Chicago and come to Omaha with me.. and she came! It was so nice to have the girls back together, we were missing a few but it was still like old times which I miss very much. I think the best part of the night was when Haileigh tried her bartending skills out in what was an attempt to get the lime to go to the bottom. She stuck her thumb in Steph's Corona, turned it upside down and (oblivious to our objections) turned it back right side up and it squirted pretty much all over us. The tables near us gave us a couple of cheers and claps :) Ryan was stuck at home but that wasn't a problem, it was Starz preview weekend and NCAA bball tourney time. So if you know him at all you know he was set. Steph and I came back Saturday because I had Carey's wedding shower to go to. It was a nice shower and she got some neat things from Pampered Chef.. I can't wait for my showers! I think they're so cute. The decorations and everything. Just too cute :) Then we headed to Hickory Park for supper with Ryan's Grandpa and Grandma Petersen and it was delish. We're actually planning on Hickory Park catering our rehearsal dinner.
But the best news of all - we FINALLY got our Save the Dates in the mail and I think people should see them starting tomorrow! I am so glad we're having someone do our invites for us because stuffing the envelopes, label, stamp, seal, label... is not fun. It was much easier than writing them out but I got so bored.
Oh and how annoying was this: Yesterday we got home from work (we both left at 3 because we didn't feel good) and every single fire alarm in our house was going off. All 6 of them. We tried to follow instructions and press the stupid button that says "Press to hush" and there was no hushing. So we were both running around like newbie homeowners.. "What the hell do we do?" Taking the batteries out didn't work because they're all hard wired together.. So Ryan was on the phone with our builder and I was running around just disconnecting all but 2 of them from the wires when all of the sudden they just stop. No reason why.. they just stop. For about 2 minutes... and then they're back. We just wanted to chuck them into the street! It was straight out of a scene of Friends: "The One Where They're Up All Night."
A Disembodied Voice: (yelling through the door) Phoebe Buffay?!
Phoebe: (scared) Fire alarm? (She opens the door to reveal a
fireman holding the blanket with the smoke detector.) Oh!
Hi, officer...fireman, can-can I help you?
The Fireman: We found your fire alarm in the trash chute.
Phoebe: That’s not mine.
The Fireman: Yes it is.
Phoebe: How do you know?
The Fireman: The next time you want to dump a fire alarm in a trash
chute, don’t wrap it in a blanket that says, "Property
of Phoebe Buffay not Monica."

Getting lots of wedding stuff done! We have a tasting for the reception on April 1 which will be some very tasty food. We get to pick 3 different entrees and we can't decide which to choose.. they all sound realllly good! We sent in the information for our engagement announcements in the Oskaloosa Herald, Manchester Press, North Scott Press and the Ankeny Press Citizen.. phew! And we'll have to do it all again for our wedding announcement! But I don't mind.. I want everyone to know! We're REALLY hoping to get our Save The Dates out by the end of this week.. it's high on our priority list but keeps getting pushed back.. whoops.. Plus we've been doing research for our honeymoon but haven't made much progress. Really the only things we know are that we want all-inclusive and a view and not in Mexico! The State department keeps coming out with warnings against it (drug cartel and other scary things).. It would be nice to go back but I think I'd rather go back to the Yucatan to visit where I studied abroad. So now there's the whole hurricane issue. Looking at Hawaii and taking a chance on the Bahamas. Wouldn't Fiji be nice? Any suggestions?
Plus we made it on our photographers blog: http://myfrozenmoment.com/blog/

Engagement Pictures

There is another one we liked so much that we used it for our Save the Dates but you'll have to wait to get yours to see it :) I LOVE our Save the Dates, we found someone to design them for us with our theme in mind and they turned out great! We're working with someone else to design our invitations and after seeing just some initial ideas I think they'll turn out great!
P.S. The table (see below) is finished and I'll have pictures up soon! We're still working on the chairs... so yes, we haven't had a kitchen table since we moved in. YIKES!
On a normal day...
We're very silly :-)
